Second Story, Video/Action for Violet

[Well, someone's figured out how to work the video function. There's not much shaky cam as he adjusts it so that his face is in the center of the frame.]

Okay, I have seen a lot of weird shit. I can even accept the giant purple flying scorpion- no offense, Fussy- [there's a forgiving Gli! from offscreen when he glances.] But I gotta say, I was under the apparently very mistaken impression that these things stayed generally the same size.

[He turns the camera down to face a bigger, slightly meaner-looking version of a Fletchling. Champion tilts her head curiously, then spreads one wing out wide to preen her flight feathers.]

Champ's twice the size she was before- and look!

[Again the camera turns to where a Braixen - still with many of the sharp canine features of the cute Fennekin he was before - is obliviously dancing with an Axew who looks just happy to be there. Sparkler's holding the smaller dragon's claws in his paws, spinning him in circles and laughing a happy, foxy laugh.]

It's...you know, normal, right? For them to just start...walking on two legs like that.

//Action//

[Varric has his team with him just outside the center of Violet City. There's a cream-and-gold egg sitting next to his pack, which he's discarded for a second because he's showing his Braixen something incredibly important.]

Okay, so first you make sure your weight is square and centered. Then you swing your arms forward, and roll your weight along with it until you-

[The dwarf kicks off the ground and executes a very nice, clean backflip, landing neatly on his feet a couple yards away from where he started. Sparkler looks around, startled, then looks back and sees his trainer.]

Just kick off the ground, tuck your head in, and make sure your head is above your ass when you uncurl to touch down. Think you can do that?

[Sparkler pauses for a moment, then nods in determination. He lowers his weight steady, inhales, and then makes the same jump. He only makes it one rotation before he uncurls and lands, and therefore made it a little less than half the distance Varric did. He eyes the distance with grim defiance, enough that it makes Varric laugh.]

You'll get there, Spark, give it time.

[Ashley's, it seems, taking a small break from training; the backdrop for her broadcast isn't a hotel or even in Violet, but rather just outside of it, to the south. Down a ways, sitting against a tree, with...a Golbat leaning against her side. Napping. At least...its mouth is closed...?]

Tell me about me. [Soft voice.] This guy? He didn't even have eyes before! And one of mine, she's like, quadrupled in size.

It's quite normal for the Pokémon to change drastically like that, yes.

Yes...this happens with a lot of Pokemon, when they evolve. Most of my Pokemon are either as big as I am, or bigger, now.

[S'what happens when you've got Charizards and Garchomps and who knows what else on top of happening to be a very smol person.]

Suppose I should count myself lucky that none of them are quite my size yet. Then again, I doubt it'll take long for them to get there if they really put their minds to it.

It really depends on how tall you are...but there are some Pokemon that will always be taller than their trainers, too. Like Onix, or Tyrantrum.

[You'd have to either be inhumanely tall or have the runtiest runt on your hands for that to be any different.]

[Despite the bashful and confused "Gar????", the camera turns to pretty much exactly what Varric described. That sure is a giant purple flying scorpion. Fussy rubs its claws together shyly.]

Come on, big guy, don't be like that. You've been getting a lot tougher lately. Show off your stuff.

[That seems to be the coaxing that the Gligar needs, because Fussy nods determinedly and does a cute little backflip in midair, giving a happy little "Gli!"]

Mm, it's a Rock-type Pokemon. I've never trained one myself, but I know they are very big. But there are Pokemon that are even bigger, like Wailord.

Well yeah, I can see how a lord of whales would tip quite a few scales. So what's the biggest one you've trained?

The biggest...? Mm...probably Garchomp, I think.

[Charizard and Chesnaught are up there, but Garchomp is just slightly larger than both of them, he thinks.]

His name is Horu. I have another Garchomp too, who was given to me when her trainer left...she's actually his mother. Her name is Bice.

Mmhm! Happened just the other day, Bram got all...big. Usually he has his mouth open and it's- well, it's kind of weird, but he's still...well, still a snuggle-monster.

That's just how some of those species are. My Cyndaquil went from walking on all fours to- [Dipper turns the camera to face a Typhlosion who had his head in a plastic bag. Don't ask.] -this guy. My Mareep did the same thing. There's really no set pattern to it.

[John shrugs. It's not his problem. He's a few towns away right now, so it's not like he's in any danger of giant flying scorpion stings.]

All I have is this adorable bird thing. And Blue is pretty cool, but she does not strike fear into her enemies in the middle of battle.

[And cue John shifting his camera over to his Swablu, who chirps happily at the camera. She doesn't seem concerned about her lack of ferocity.]

[Rakka seems to be broadcasting her reply from the topmost floor of scenic Sprout Tower... Apparently. There's the familiar wooden walls and floors, but there's a noticeable... fuzziness on the edges of the video.

Judging from the distance between her and the screen, she doesn't seem to be the one holding the pokegear either.]

[A strange humming sound fills the air, and Jeep the Metagross rises up to hover over York's shoulder, curious.]

Give us a turn, would you, buddy? [Bemused, Jeep spins slowly, and York holds his hands about two feet apart.] This guy started about yay long, would you believe? No limbs to speak of. 'S called a Beldum, I hear they live around some ruins early on.

[That's a shocker, given how most people give newbies a huge infodump about the world when they first arrive.

Well, seems most people have already chimed in, but for the heck of it, he'll point the camera at a very big Charizard currently flipping through a magazine.]

Flare started off more like a dinosaur than a dragon. No wings, no horns. About the only thing that's stayed the same was his tail and the color of his scale.

Oh, and if that's not enough, there's a dinosaur that turns into a cocoon.
